MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Piedmont Arts will host an opening reception for its latest exhibits from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on January 24.

The evening will feature complimentary wine, light refreshments, and live music by Joanie McPeak, with a gallery talk scheduled for 6:15 p.m.

The reception will celebrate three exhibits, including:

• “Words Matter: Contemporary Native American Works on Paper” — This exhibit highlights contemporary Indigenous experiences through printmaking, featuring artists such as Rick Bartow (Wiyot) and Demian Diné Yazhi (Diné/Navajo). The works incorporate text to reclaim lost histories, share personal narratives, and offer messages of hope and resilience.

• “Bjørn Sterri: Family Photographs, 2001-2015” — Norwegian artist Bjørn Sterri’s photographs capture his family’s intimate journey through growth and change over 15 years, reflecting on themes of connection, identity, and the passage of time.

• “Creating Memories Through Glass and Art” — This exhibit showcases stained and fused glass creations by artist Steve Eanes in the Lynwood Artists Gallery.

The exhibits, organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, will be on display through March 15, with free admission during gallery hours.

The reception is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required by January 21 at 276-632-3221 or PiedmontArts.org.
