
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A Jacksonville, North Carolina, woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Martinsville man last year.
On September 22, 2024, Martinsville Police responded to an apartment in the 1000 block of Mountain Road, where they found James Carmichael, 69, with an apparent knife wound to the chest.
According to police, Carmichael lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, authorities charged Sherri McGregor, 56, with first-degree murder.
McGregor was apprehended on January 16 in Jacksonville by agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, and Martinsville Police Department.
She is being held without bond pending extradition to Virginia.
The investigation remains ongoing.
