ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (rbs news now) — A crash on January 15 claimed the life of a woman and left two others injured in Rocky Mount.

Emergency crews were called to the 600 block of North Main Street, near the intersection of Woodlawn Drive, at around 8:23 p.m.

The investigations revealed that a 2002 Ford Focus was going north when it crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The driver of the Ford, Brittany Chyann Widener, 35, of Wirtz, was transported to Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the Chevrolet were also transported to the hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said they are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
