PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A male is being treated for significant injuries following a suspected shooting incident in Pittsylvania County on January 19.

Deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Afton Road around 1 p.m. after receiving a report of a potential shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found a male who had suffered severe trauma consistent with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to SOVAH Health in Danville, where he continues to receive treatment.

Investigators collected evidence from the residence and interviewed witnesses at the scene.

A person of interest has been identified, though no arrests have been made at this time.

Authorities confirmed that the incident has a domestic connection and is considered isolated.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the commonwealth’s attorney, is continuing to review evidence.
