HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of vehicle larcenies occurring throughout the county.
Authorities say suspects have been targeting both locked and unlocked vehicles, particularly those with valuables visible from the outside.
A surveillance image from an incident in the Ridgeway area shows a suspect involved in one of the thefts.
However, similar incidents have been reported in various locations across the county.
The sheriff’s office reminds residents to take precautionary measures to deter theft, including:
• Locking vehicle doors, even when parked at home
• Removing valuables from plain sight
• Reporting any suspicious activity immediately
“A locked vehicle with no valuables in sight is the best deterrent against theft,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post on February 6. “Criminals look for easy opportunities—don’t give them one.”
Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 276-632-7463.
The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards of up to $2,500 for tips that lead to an arrest.
