HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A North Carolina man was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash on March 8.
Henry County deputies tried to stop a white Chevrolet Suburban on Axton Road but the driver, Gary Wayne Tilley Jr., 40, of Eden, N.C., refused to pull over and fled.
The pursuit continued into Eden, N.C., where Tilley drove at high speeds down Highway 14 before turning onto Highway 87.
A Henry County deputy then executed a P.I.T. maneuver to stop the vehicle.
Authorities said Tilley tried to regain control but overcorrected, causing the Chevrolet to flip onto its roof.
Neither he nor his female passenger was injured, and both were evaluated by EMS at the scene.
Deputies say they discovered Tilley had an outstanding warrant in North Carolina for misdemeanor larceny.
He was taken into custody and charged with felony eluding police.
He remains in the Rockingham County Adult Detention Center in N.C. awaiting extradition.
