SPENCER, Va. (rbs news now) — The 2nd Annual Kiss the Piggy Competition fundraiser by the Spencer-Penn Centre is now live.

Participants are competing for the chance to plant a smooch on a local pig.

Every dollar donated counts as a vote, with proceeds benefiting community programs and facility improvements at the centre.

This year’s competitors include:

  • Chris Lawless – Lawless Welding & Fabrications, Inc.
  • Tim Compton – Henry County Sheriff’s Office
  • Delegate Eric Phillips
  • Michael Minter – Bassett High School Principal

The winner will pucker up with the pig during the centre’s 14th Annual Pig Cookin’ on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 475 Spencer-Penn Road.

The festival, which promises a day packed with activities, including:

  • Live music
  • Children’s games at the “Barnival”
  • Vendor booths
  • Silent auction
  • Car show
  • Delicious pork and chicken BBQ

Admission is free, with food sales starting at 10:30 a.m. and operating on a cash-only basis.
