FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A man was airlifted to a local hospital after being shot during a confrontation on private property on March 30.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Blue Spruce Drive, Martinsville around 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

“This Martinsville address is actually in Franklin County,” confirmed Megan Huston, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, to rbs news now.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound.

Authorities said the incident occurred after the man entered another homeowner’s property which lead to an altercation.

Deputies administered first aid until emergency medical services arrived.

The victim was then flown to a local hospital for further treatment.

Investigators said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

As of now, no criminal charges have been filed.

The investigation remains active.
