PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Yvonne Rorrer, a Patrick County resident, has announced her candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates in District 47.
The district includes Patrick, Floyd, and Carroll counties, a western portion of Henry County, and the City of Galax.
Rorrer brings more than 20 years of business and property management experience to her campaign, according to a news release.
She also previously owned and operated Zehn Photography, growing it into a multi-state business before closing it to focus on her family and public service, the release said.
Rorrer serves as a court-appointed special advocate with Focus on Youth in Martinsville, supporting abused and neglected children in the court system.
She also volunteers as a remembrance photographer for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, providing grieving families with meaningful keepsakes.
The release said she pushed for the introduction and amendment of Virginia House Bill 1721, which removed a 10-year waiting period for easement relocation.
The bill passed unanimously in both the House and Senate.
Her campaign platform focuses on human rights, social justice, education, mental health advocacy, affordable housing and healthcare, and child and senior welfare, according to the release.
Rorrer also aims to support farmers, veterans, and initiatives that create sustainable jobs in the district.
“I am committed to uniting our district by bridging political divides and ensuring that real people, not politics, shape our future,” Rorrer said in the release.
