HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — All Vets, a Henry County-based nonprofit, will lead its second annual county-wide Memorial Day rucking event on May 24.

Starting at 6 a.m. from Jack Dalton Park, more than 25 participants escorted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office will ruck 22 miles as a tribute to honor fallen service members.

Each rucker will carry American, military service, and POW/MIA flags in their packs—hundreds in total—each one representing a fallen hero.

The ruck will conclude around 2 p.m. back at Jack Dalton Park, where community members are invited to join the final lap around the park’s Trail of Remembrance.

The trail will be adorned with flags and patriotic displays in solemn tribute.

Following the ruck, All Vets will host a brief storytelling presentation under the park shelter to reflect on the lives and legacies of Veterans no longer with us.

During the ceremony, All Vets and Henry County officials will present a plaque to a local Gold Star widow in a show of remembrance and solidarity, a news release said.

Army veteran Melissa Gaona will serve as the event’s emcee.

Founded in 2024 by U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Henry County native S. Patrick Rodgers, All Vets is dedicated to “Honoring the Fallen and Strengthening the Living,” the release said.

The group promotes wellness and community support among veterans through physical activity, storytelling, and outreach.

The release said funds raised through flag sponsorships, t-shirt sales, and donations will support local veterans and initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission.
