MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — The Greater Aspiration Scholarship Program (GRASP) has named Deniyah Hightower and Na’Dasia Cobbs of Martinsville High School as its 2025 scholarship recipients.

Hightower will attend Norfolk State University with plans to become a psychiatric nurse, while Cobbs will pursue a nursing degree at Patrick & Henry Community College.

GRASP, a Richmond-based nonprofit, operates in 111 high schools across Virginia, including Martinsville, where Kathy Carter serves as the local GRASP advisor and also sits on the Martinsville City School Board.

Under her leadership, the program has awarded nearly $30,000 in scholarships over the past six years.

“Congratulations to each of these exceptional students! We wish you the very best of luck as you take the next steps toward your future,” Martinsville City Public Schools wrote in a Facebook post on May 9.

GRASP provides individualized financial aid counseling and scholarship opportunities to help students and families navigate the cost of post-secondary education.
