FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A one-of-a-kind summer tradition is making waves once again at Philpott Lake.

Franklin County Parks & Recreation will host its annual Concerts by Canoe series beginning June 13 at the scenic backdrop of Twin Ridge Recreation Area.

The series invites attendees to bring their canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, tubes, or floats and paddle their way to a front-row seat on the water.

Each performance begins at 6:30 p.m., with music echoing across the lake at sunset.

The 2025 lineup includes:

• June 13: The Harwell Grice Band
• June 20: Martha Spencer and the Wonderland Band
• July 11: Ashelee Watkins & Andrew Small & Friends
• August 8: Corey Hunley & Matt Powell

The Hotdog Stand will be on-site offering snacks for concertgoers, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to unload paddle craft at the Twin Ridge dual launch ramp.

Those using motorboats should launch from the Salthouse Branch Recreation Area.

Non-motorized boats should access the venue via Twin Ridge Recreation Area at 1052 Twin Ridge Marina Road in Henry.

No registration is required, and while the concerts are free, donations are welcome.

Per Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources regulations, life jackets are required for all watercraft users.
