DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A second man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that happened during a large gathering in Danville.
26-year-old Tyliek Niem Hanks, of Java, was taken into custody on June 3 by Danville Police in connection with the June 1 shooting on Carver Drive.
Police said Hanks was driving the Chrysler sedan in which 22-year-old Jay’Shaun Tiejae White was found dead from a gunshot wound.
Hanks, who was also wounded in the incident, faces three counts each of discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The arrest comes after another man, 26-year-old Juwan Montel Baker, was taken into custody.
Authorities say Baker was a passenger in the same vehicle and is facing identical charges.
Investigators believe the incident stemmed from an exchange of gunfire between individuals at a large outdoor gathering and occupants of the Chrysler sedan.
Three other individuals arrived at the hospital shortly afterward with gunshot injuries.
Danville Police say the case remains active and additional arrests and charges are expected.

Danville Police said that 26-year-old Juwan Montel Baker was taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation.
Authorities say Baker was a passenger in a Chrysler sedan where 22-year-old Jay’Shaun Tiejae White, of Hurt, was found dead in the front passenger seat from a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Baker has been charged with three counts of discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle, three counts of malicious wounding, and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Officers initially responded to Carver Drive and Cheyenne Drive around 1:30 a.m. after multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.
Upon arrival, police said they found the Chrysler sedan stopped in the road with White deceased inside.
The vehicle’s suspected driver, a 26-year-old man from Java was located nearby suffering from a gunshot wound and transported to SOVAH Health Danville.
Shortly after, three more individuals—a 31-year-old man, a 25-year-old man, and a 19-year-old woman, all from Danville—arrived at SOVAH Health with gunshot wounds.
The woman was treated and released, while the men were transferred to other hospitals for further treatment.
According to police, the shooting stemmed from gunfire exchanged between individuals attending a large outdoor gathering and the occupants of the Chrysler sedan.
The gathering took place on private property near the Carver Drive and Cheyenne Drive intersection.
Investigators are asking anyone who was present at the scene or who may have information to call police at 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 434-793-0000.
