MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A new breakfast and brunch spot is set to bring flavor and community spirit to Uptown Martinsville.
Be Wiched Diner opens its doors to the public on June 6 at 54 West Church Street—directly across from the city municipal building.
Owned by longtime Martinsville residents Kathy and David Kitzmiller, Be Wiched offers a menu full of comfort food made from scratch, including brioche bun half-pound burgers like “The Wake & Bacon” and “The Smash & Grab,” hand-cut fries, biscuits with sage sausage gravy, cinnamon rolls, French toast, sweet potato fries, and beignets.
A children’s menu includes unique offerings like a deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
“We carry Pepsi products, tea and sweet tea, and for our coffee lovers we will have a few options available including 25¢ hot coffee and 25¢ hot tea,” Kathy said in a Facebook comment.

The diner will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Our mission at Be Wiched is to strengthen our community through kindness and to be a welcoming and warm space for all,” Kathy said. “With over 30 years combined of restaurant experience, David in operations and myself in training, we are ready to have a little place of our own, in our own community.”
Ahead of the grand opening, the diner hosted two private mock service events on June 3 and June 4 to help staff prepare for regular operations.
The diner received praise from local leaders that attended the events.
Martinsville Police Chief Rob Fincher commented on Facebook, “I was one of the lucky ones who got the preview today and it was amazing! I highly recommend them. I will definitely be a regular customer.”
City Council Member Julian Mei also shared his excitement on Facebook.
“Possibly the best French toast I’ve ever had… The ambiance was lovely, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, and the food—clearly—was a home run,” Mei wrote.
