EAST BEND, N.C. (rbs news now) — Camden “Cam” William Trail, a 14-year-old motocross rider from Bassett, Virginia, passed away on June 7 following a tragic accident at East Bend Motorsports in North Carolina.

According to race official Travis Rominger, the fatal incident occurred when two riders collided mid-air at the finish line jump during a practice session.

After reviewing video footage, organizers said it appeared to be a tragic accident with no fault attributed to either rider.

Rominger, who was the first person to reach Camden after the crash, said paramedics, EMTs, nurses, and other medical personnel were on the scene within a minute.

Life-saving efforts continued for over an hour but were ultimately unsuccessful.

Trail’s parents expressed to Rominger in the ambulance that their son died doing what he loved.

“Their faith is very strong,” Rominger said in a statement shared by the facility. “We ask the entire EBMX family to lift this family up in prayer during this unthinkable time.”

Trail, born April 6, 2011, in Roanoke, Virginia, was remembered as a vibrant and driven young man.

He had a love for anything outdoors and anything with a motor, especially dirt bikes, according to his obituary.

Friends and family said he lived life to the fullest and carried an infectious smile wherever he went.

He also ran his own business, Cam’s Lawn Care, and was known for his work ethic, love of dancing, and deep friendships.

A funeral service will be held on June 10 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Bassett.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The burial will be private.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist the Trail family with funeral and memorial expenses.

Organizers described Camden as “more than a talented rider — he was a beloved son, friend, and inspiration to everyone who knew him.”
