HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A man wanted in connection with a 2024 rape investigation in Henry County has been arrested in North Carolina, Sheriff Wayne Davis announced on June 12.

Aaron Ray Snider, 28, was taken into custody on June 12 in Beaufort County, N.C., following a months-long search.

The arrest comes after the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual assault on September 12, 2024, and launched an investigation.

According to Sheriff Davis, Snider was identified as the suspect during the initial stages of the investigation.

Evidence was collected and submitted to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science, and based on the results, a warrant was issued for Snider’s arrest on one count of rape.

Davis said Snider fled the area shortly after the investigation began and law enforcement continued to pursue leads until credible information pointed to his location in North Carolina.

With assistance from local authorities, Snider was arrested without incident and is currently being held in North Carolina without bond and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.

“Due to the sensitive nature of this case, the name of the victim will not be released,” Sheriff Davis said. “The Henry County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public and our law enforcement partners
for their assistance in this ongoing investigation.”
