AXTON, Va. (rbs news now) — An Axton volunteer firefighter was taken to the hospital following a crash on June 22.

The collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of A.L. Philpott Highway and Mountain Valley Road in Axton.

Virginia State Police, who spoke to rbs news now at the scene, said the Dodge Ram 2500 brush truck was responding to a call when it was involved in a crash with a Honda 2-door vehicle.

The female volunteer firefighter, who was driving the brush truck, was transported to the hospital by Henry County Public Safety.

Her condition was not immediately released.

The driver of the Honda was not injured, according to state police.

The incident remains under investigation.
