PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A 35-year-old man was arrested in Patrick County following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase that crossed state lines.

Demarko Antonio Moore, of Blebins Road in Mount Airy, North Carolina was charged with being a fugitive from justice after a pursuit that began in Surry County, North Carolina, on the evening of June 19.

Around 5:15 p.m., the Surry County Sheriff’s Office notified Patrick County authorities that they were pursuing a suspect vehicle heading north into Virginia on Route 103.

The vehicle continued into Claudville and turned onto Hatcher’s Chapel Road.

Near the intersection with Big Dan Lake Road, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby woods.

Multiple Patrick County deputies responded to assist in the search.

Senior Deputy Dustin Dillon and his K9 partner, Crash, tracked the suspect with support from Surry County deputies.

The K9 unit successfully located Moore hiding along a creek bank.

He was apprehended and received medical treatment for a dog bite to the leg, according to deputies.

Moore was wanted in North Carolina for a felony probation violation.

He was held at the Patrick County Jail until June 24, when Surry County authorities extradited him back to North Carolina.
