PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Claudville man is in custody following a July 14 afternoon domestic incident in which a firearm was discharged inside an occupied home.

James Colton Wuchner, 38, of State Line Road, has been charged with maliciously discharging a firearm inside an occupied dwelling and felony child abuse.

Patrick County authorities said they received a frantic call at 12:53 p.m. from a woman reporting that her boyfriend had just fired a shot inside their home.

Deputies responded to the scene and took Wuchner into custody without incident.

The woman and her six-year-old son were in the residence at the time the shot was allegedly fired.

Authorities later obtained a search warrant for the home.

Investigators said they recovered a firearm, ammunition, illegal narcotics, and found a bullet hole that had passed through a wall, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Patrick County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Patrick County Department of Social Services are assisting with the investigation.

Wuchner is being held without bond in the Patrick County Jail.
