RIDGEWAY, Va. (rbs news now) — All Vets, a Henry County-based nonprofit organization, in partnership with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, will host the second annual Henry County 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

The event will be held Saturday, September 13 at the Martinsville Speedway Grandstand and will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

It is designed to honor the brave first responders who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Participants will climb 2,071 steps—the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs, mirroring the height of the Twin Towers—in tribute to the sacrifices made that day.

The stair climb is untimed and self-paced, and participants are encouraged to complete all steps or as many as they are able.

All ages are welcome, though minors must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Registration is $20, and participants who sign up by August 22 will receive an event T-shirt.

Online registration will remain open until September 12.

T-shirts will be available for pickup at check-in from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event.

Refreshments will be provided for those participating.

Spectators can attend at no cost and will be able to view the event from the Speedway track.

Local fire departments and rescue squads will also be on-site with equipment and emergency vehicles for public interaction and community engagement.

Monetary donations will be accepted at the event, with all proceeds benefiting Henry County’s volunteer fire departments and rescue squads, according to a news release.

All Vets was founded in August 2024 by S. Patrick Rodgers, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Henry County native.

The organization aims to “Honor the Fallen and Strengthen the Living,” offering events such as the Memorial Day Ruck and the 9/11 Stair Climb to raise awareness around physical and mental health while building community support for veterans and first responders.
