HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Five businesses officially opened their doors Saturday morning at 8461 and 8465 A.L. Philpott Highway in Henry County.

The ribbon-cutting event featured MarKii Custom Services LLC, Hairston’s Cuts Barbershop LLC, Cold Cutz LLC, A Touch of Love Barbershop LLC, and DLM Barnyard Bargains.

MarKii Custom Services and Hairston’s Cuts Barbershop LLC owner Marcus Hairston said his work goes beyond the barbershop.

“I do embroidery, printing on shirts, signs, banners, canvas pictures — pretty much whatever you need,” he said. “We can do anywhere from one to 10,000 shirts.” Customers can also find him cutting hair by appointment.

Both businesses can be contacted by calling 276-790-1372.

Cold Cutz LLC owner Jordan Philpott, who has been barbering for eight years, said his shop focuses on quality and atmosphere.

“I take my time, I’m very detail-oriented, and the conversations are always good,” he said. “It’s a safe zone where you can relax and come as you are.”

A Touch of Love Barbershop LLC owner Lloyd Hairston said he was thankful to see the community show up.

“It’s a blessing to be open today and to have my customers, family, and friends out here,” he said. “We’re thankful to be a business that’s still here after so long.”

A Touch of Love accepts walk-ins and appointments at 276-632-8776.

DLM Barnyard Bargains owned by Dona Whitfield, Lloyd Hairston, and Marcus Hairston offers flea market-style deals, furniture, clothing, and more each Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., with local food trucks often on-site.

Marcus Hairston said the space was designed to give the community “something different” with variety and plenty of parking.

The businesses are located next to O’Kelly’s and across from the Food Lion with Elizabeth’s Pizza.
