MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A firearm investigation led Martinsville police to uncover a suspected marijuana distribution operation on Saturday.

According to police, officers responded to the 300 block of Forest Street on August 16 for a report of a brandishing a firearm offense.

While investigating, officers said they observed evidence pointing to possible drug activity.

A search warrant was obtained for the address and officers said they seized multiple bags of suspected marijuana, three firearms, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Fantasia Harper, 20, of Martinsville, was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana greater than one ounce but less than five pounds, with intent to distribute.

Acting Police Chief Chad Rhoads told rbs news now that this incident is not connected to the August 12 murder of 39-year-old Crystal Galloway Jordan in the 500 block of Forest Street.

The case remains under investigation.
