PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Claudville man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle pursuit that ended with his vehicle striking the side of a fire department building.
Deputies were patrolling in the Pedigo Ridge Road area around 1:30 p.m. on August 19 looking for Kenneth Dane Gray, 55, of Pedigo Ridge Road.
Authorities said Gray was wanted on a capias for failure to appear on distribution of meth charges in Patrick County Circuit Court.
A deputy tried to stop Gray in a Chevrolet pickup, but Gray fled recklessly along Pedigo Ridge Road, Unity Church Road, and Homeplace Road.
A deputy deployed spike strips across Homeplace Road, deflating the truck’s front tires.
Gray continued onto Ararat Highway, where a deputy performed a precision immobilization technique maneuver that forced the vehicle off the road.
Gray then drove off-road and struck the side of the Ararat Volunteer Fire Department building, causing minor damage, according to deputies.
Deputies arrested Gray at the scene.
A search of the vehicle uncovered more than two ounces of suspected meth and a loaded handgun, deputies said.
The suspected drugs will be analyzed by the state forensic lab.
Numerous narcotics and firearms felony charges are forthcoming pending analysis.
Gray is being held without bond at the Patrick County Jail.
