ORIGINAL STORY — August 20
BASSETT, Va. (rbs news now) — Two people are in custody after Henry County authorities executed a narcotics search warrant Wednesday at a home in Bassett.
Deputies searched a residence in the 200 block of Penrose Drive on August 20, after what Sheriff Wayne Davis described as a long-term investigation.
“We’ve received a number of complaints from this community about this residence,” Sheriff Davis told rbs news now at the scene. “We began looking into it, which led to the issuance and ultimately the execution of the search warrant here today.”
Davis said a male suspect was taken into custody without incident and was already wanted on multiple distribution charges.

A female suspect tried to avoid capture.
“She was able to get into the bathroom cabinet and ultimately crawl through a pre-cut hole down underneath the trailer where she was able to hide out for a little bit until we could identify her location and successfully extract her,” The sheriff said. “She is now in custody as well.”
Inside the home, deputies found fentanyl, meth, a white powder believed to be cocaine, packaging materials and a stolen firearm, according to Davis.
“Henry County is full of good people. Unfortunately, we do have blight areas such as this and individuals who continue to choose to sell dope,” Davis said. “You may sell drugs today and make a few dollars, but I promise you this will be the scene in your front door eventually.”
The names of the suspects and formal charges were not immediately released.
