CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Bassett man was killed early Sunday morning in a crash on Route 58 in Carroll County.

It happened around 1:29 a.m. on August 24 when a 2012 Toyota Venza going westbound ran off the right side of the road near Shaners Way.

The Toyota struck a culvert and an embankment before overturning multiple times, according to the Virginia State Police.

State Police said the driver, 46-year-old George W. Houck, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
