PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A fire early Wednesday morning required a multi-agency response and a tanker task force to supply water to crews battling flames.

The blaze was reported around 12:48 a.m. on August 27 in the 900 block of Afton Road, Danville.

First-arriving units said they found fire through the roof of a large residence.

Crews faced challenges due to the size of the structure, its distance from the road, and the lack of nearby hydrants, according to Blairs Fire & Rescue.

Additional support came from Mt. Hermon Fire, Ringgold Fire, Kentuck Fire, and other Pittsylvania County agencies.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
