PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — The Patrick County Agricultural Fair will return September 9–13 at 420 Woodland Drive in Stuart, offering rides, livestock shows, nightly entertainment and family activities.

The fair’s traditional kickoff event — the Demolition Derby — will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, three days before the fair begins.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m., the Kiddie Power Wheel Derby starts at 6 p.m., and the main demolition derby begins at 7 p.m.

Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 7–12, and free for children 6 and under.

Pit passes are $15.

Once the fair begins Sept. 9, gates open daily at 5:30 p.m., with rides starting at 6 p.m.

Ride wristbands are $30, or tickets may be purchased individually for $1.25 each.

Discounted wristbands are available through Sept. 9.

Highlights include:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 9: Student Night with free admission for ages 0–18, a pizza-eating contest, and Horse Night in the Animal Barn
  • Wednesday, Sept. 10: Beef Cattle Youth Livestock Competition at 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 11: Free admission for seniors 60 and older, active military and veterans, plus sheep and hog shows
  • Friday, Sept. 12: Goat, poultry and cavy livestock shows starting at 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 13: Fireworks at 10 p.m., the new Hay Toss Contest, and clogging and flatfooting competitions

Music and entertainment will be featured nightly in the Hooker Building, with performances ranging from local dance groups and gospel acts to bluegrass bands.
