He is in the Danville City Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY — September 2

DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Danville Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that injured a man.

Officers responded to Woodside Village Apartments in the 1300 block of Piney Forest Road around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, August 24, after reports of gunfire.

A 23-year-old man was found with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, police said in a September 2 news release.

Police have identified Allante Hairston, 35, as the suspect.

He is wanted on the following charges:

• Two counts of malicious wounding
• Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
• Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
• Shooting in a public place
• Misdemeanor reckless handling of a firearm

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on Hairston’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1, contact Danville Police patrol at 434-799-6510, or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
