PATRICK COUNTY , Va. (rbs news now) — A Patrick County man is being held without bond after authorities say he beat and strangled a woman while threatening to kill.

George Kevin Rucker, 42, of Developmental Drive, was arrested August 25.

He was charged with attempted murder, abduction, malicious wounding, strangulation, and domestic assault and battery.

In a criminal complaint, Rucker allegedly told a female victim multiple times he was going to kill her, then strangled and struck her with a hammer while preventing her from leaving the residence on August 23.

Authorities said the victim suffered serious injuries and was treated at Sovah Health in Martinsville.

Rucker and the victim were in a relationship at the time of the incident, according to authorities.
