DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A 25-year-old Danville man has been charged in connection with a Thursday morning carjacking and assault of a woman unloading groceries.
Ni’Majae Syncere Logan was arrested later in the day in Reidsville, North Carolina, after law enforcement agencies in both states coordinated to track a stolen vehicle, according to Danville Police.
The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on September 11 in the 300 block of Martin Avenue in Danville.
Police said a 65-year-old woman had just returned home from the store and was unloading groceries when a man approached, pepper-sprayed her, shoved her to the ground and stole her 2018 Honda SUV.
The woman sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by the Danville Life Saving Crew.
Logan is charged with carjacking, grand larceny, credit card theft and illegal use of tear gas.

He was out on bond in Eden, North Carolina, on charges stemming from a similar incident in August and is also wanted on charges in Raleigh and Georgia, police said.
A description of the stolen Honda and suspect was distributed to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
A Rockingham County, NC deputy later spotted the vehicle and Logan in Reidsville, which led to a foot chase.
After a search that included K-9 units and a North Carolina Highway Patrol helicopter, Logan was located and taken into custody.
Logan is currently being held in North Carolina and will be extradited to Virginia at a later date.
The investigation remains ongoing.
