
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on 20 counts related to child pornography on Thursday.
Captain Gerald Ford said the Cybercrimes Division opened a criminal investigation on August 28 after receiving a lead from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about alleged sexual exploitation of children.
The case led to arrest of Stephen Scott Herndon, 55, of Danville, who lives in Pittsylvania County.
Herndon is charged with possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography.

He is being held in the Pittsylvania County Jail without bond.
“The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office remains steadfast in our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community,” Ford said in a news release. “Our investigators and deputies continue to identify and arrest individuals who prey upon our children, and we will pursue every available resource to ensure they are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
The investigation is ongoing.
