
RIDGEWAY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Ridgeway man has been arrested after a Friday morning domestic incident in which a woman said she was choked and escaped by stabbing her attacker, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded at about 9:17 a.m. on September 19 to Creekway Trail after receiving a report of a stabbing that reportedly occurred around 6 a.m.
According to witness statements, Keyon Lesam Hairston, 39, a resident of the home, returned after being gone overnight and forced his way inside by kicking the door open.
The victim told investigators Hairston grabbed her by the arm, pulled her into a back bedroom and later choked her to the point she could not breathe.
She said she managed to grab a kitchen knife, cut Hairston and break free.

Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis told rbs news now that after the incident occurred on Creekway Trail, Hairston left the scene on foot and called 9-1-1 while walking along Old Mill Road.
Hairston has been charged with abduction by force and strangulation.
He is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

RIDGEWAY, Va. (rbs news now) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing Friday morning that authorities say stemmed from a domestic situation.
Deputies were called to the 1000 block of Old Mill Road in Ridgeway at about 9:20 a.m. on September 19.
Sheriff Wayne Davis told rbs news now a man was found with non-life-threatening injuries to one arm and was treated at the scene.
Investigators located a woman believed to be involved in the incident at her workplace, the Checkered Pig restaurant in Martinsville.

She was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
Authorities believe the woman may have been a victim of domestic violence, which could have led to the stabbing.
No charges have been announced as the investigation continues.
