PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A dirt bike rider was airlifted to a trauma center Saturday morning after falling about 50 feet into a ravine in Pittsylvania County, according to Brosville Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
The agency said it was dispatched around 10:40 a.m. September 20 to a report of a person who had fallen.
When units arrived, they found the injured rider deep in the woods.

According to responders, the individual’s foot became entangled in the rear wheel of the dirt bike while going up a steep embankment, causing him to fall down the bank.
Due to the extent of the injuries, the rider was flown to a trauma center directly from the scene.
“We would like to thank Pittsylvania County dispatch along with AirCare 3 for all of the help,” Brosville Volunteer Fire & Rescue said in a Facebook post. “This call proved that there is no ‘I’ in team as we all came together to help the injured person receive the treatment needed.”
