According to responders, the individual’s foot became entangled in the rear wheel of the dirt bike while going up a steep embankment, causing him to fall down the bank.

Due to the extent of the injuries, the rider was flown to a trauma center directly from the scene.

“We would like to thank Pittsylvania County dispatch along with AirCare 3 for all of the help,” Brosville Volunteer Fire & Rescue said in a Facebook post. “This call proved that there is no ‘I’ in team as we all came together to help the injured person receive the treatment needed.”

One response to “Dirt bike rider airlifted after 50-foot fall”

  1. Hi, this is Ash, the patient/rider. This was truly a testament to the quality that EMS can have. I want to personally thank everyone involved in getting up and out of that hole, safely and with minimal pain. I’ve not had a lot of accidents of this magnitude in my life but this rescue was truly as good as it gets. I had a displaced fracture of both the Tibia and Fibula of my lower left leg, which left me completely immobilized. The EMS in coordination with the helicopter team from Baptist Hospital could not have been more seamless

I’ve had surgery and all the bones are back in place. I have walked with a walker this morning and I should be home tomorrow. Thanks again!!!
