DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — The Danville Fire Department responded Wednesday evening to a house fire on Dula Street that was traced to an unattended candle.

Battalion Chief F.D. Fowler said crews were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. on September 24 and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from all four sides of the single-story home.

The occupants were already outside and accounted for.

Firefighters entered the residence and found the blaze mostly in the attic.

It was brought under control within about 10 minutes.

Crews stayed on scene for roughly an hour and a half to overhaul the structure and investigate.

No injuries were reported, and the residents are staying with family, Fowler said.
