PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A woman died Sunday in a crash when the SUV she was driving struck a house in Gretna.

It happened around 6:47 p.m. on October 5 on Zion Road near East Gretna Road.

According to Virginia State Police, a 2003 Ford Escape was going south on Zion Road when it ran off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, overturned and hit a house.

Gretna Volunteer Fire Chief Ben Meeks said the driver was unresponsive when crews arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police identified the driver as Ora Pannell Slade, 65, of Gretna, who was not wearing a seat belt.

No one inside the home was injured, and the house sustained only minor damage.

The crash remains under investigation.
