MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Martinsville High School was briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after a single bullet was discovered on the floor of a classroom.
The incident happened on October 8.
School administrators and law enforcement officers responded, and the campus was secured as authorities conducted a search of the building.
No weapon or additional ammunition was found, officials said.

After determining there was no ongoing threat, the lockdown was lifted and classes resumed as normal.
“We appreciate the swift response of law enforcement and the cooperation of our students and staff as we prioritize everyone’s safety,” Martinsville City Public Schools said in a statement on Facebook.
All students and staff were reported safe.
