STOKES COUNTY, N.C. (rbs news now) — A Stokes County family says they are “beyond words” after global pop star Taylor Swift donated $100,000 to help their 2-year-old daughter, Lilah, who is battling a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

The donation was made quietly on October 17 through the family’s GoFundMe page, which has been raising money for Lilah’s treatment since March.

The family’s story gained widespread attention on social media, where Lilah’s mother, Katelynn Smoot, has shared updates about her daughter’s strength and love for Swift’s music.

In her GoFundMe note, Swift wrote, “Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah! Love, Taylor.”

The gesture came months after the family’s heartbreaking discovery.

According to their GoFundMe page, on February 24, while Smoot was in labor, Lilah suffered a seizure at home and was rushed to the hospital.

Scans revealed a mass on her brain, and an MRI later confirmed it was a stage 4 tumor.

Lilah underwent successful brain surgery on March 3, which removed the entire tumor.

However, doctors later diagnosed her with a rare and aggressive cancer—one of only 58 documented cases in the U.S. last year.

She continues to receive chemotherapy and stem cell treatment, spending weeks at a time in the hospital.

“Taylor Swift is my friend. Thank you, Taylor Swift,” Lilah said in a social media video.

In another clip, the smiling toddler added, “Thank you, Swifties!”

Smoot said the donation has changed everything for her family.

“Thank you beyond words, Taylor Swift. We now can just focus on being here with our girl,” she said. “Truly we are so incredibly grateful. Thank you. I am in shock. You have no idea what this means to our family.”

In a follow-up video, an emotional Smoot thanked both Swift and the online fan community.

“I am truly at a loss for words. The Swiftie community is absolutely amazing,” she said through tears. “You guys have almost matched Taylor’s donation in about 24 hours, and that is insane to me. The financial burden has been completely lifted off my family, and I am so thankful and so grateful. There’s a lot of negativity and hate in the world, but you can’t see it when you’re part of the Swiftie community.”

As of October 19, more than $275,000 had been raised for Lilah’s care.
