HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Danville man was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Halifax County, according to the Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. on October 18 on Philpott Road, about one mile east of Hackberry Road.

State Police said a 2015 Chevrolet Spark was going westbound when it ran off the right side of the road, went down an embankment, and struck a tree.

The driver, Demietre R. Brandon, 33, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
