DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after an early-morning house fire in Danville on Saturday.
The Danville Fire Department was dispatched October 25 at 5:48 a.m. to the 1100 block of North Main Street for reports of a structure fire at a two-story residence.
When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the second floor and were advised that people were still inside.
Crews deployed attack lines and began searching the building, locating and removing two people within minutes.
In total, four individuals were transported to the hospital by the Danville Life Saving Crew.
Firefighters said they were able to knock down the blaze quickly, preventing it from spreading to a neighboring house.

However, the home’s second floor and attic sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
Officials said eight residents were displaced as a result of the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting them with temporary housing and other needs.
The fire department was assisted by the Danville Police Department, Danville Life Saving Crew, and the city’s electric department.
Crews remained on scene for just under two hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
