DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A Danville teacher is under investigation after a social media post drew concern from members of the school community.
The post reportedly featured an image from a page called “Dream for America” showing a rainbow-colored gun pointed at a silhouetted head with the caption, “Put the pronouns back in the email.”
The teacher identified by multiple sources as Dr. Sabrina Kent-Morris, teaches history and government at George Washington High School.
According to what appears to be an introduction on an online class syllabus, Kent-Morris joined Danville Public Schools (DPS) in June 2023 after previously teaching civics and economics at Bonner Middle School.
In a statement, the school division said it was aware of the post and had taken immediate action.
“The employee involved will not be present on school grounds while this matter is under investigation,” the school division said. “We take such matters very seriously, as the content shared does not reflect the values or expectations of professionalism that guide our division. Danville Public Schools remains committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all students and staff.”
DPS said no additional details could be shared at this time because it is a personnel matter.
The post gained national attention Wednesday night, when it was discussed on the Fox News Channel’s “Gutfeld!”
