PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Thanksgiving Day crash left an Altavista man dead in Pittsylvania County.

The crash occurred November 27 at 7:45 p.m. on Level Run Road east of Moods Road.

According to Virginia State Police, a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse was going west when it ran off the left side of the road, went down an embankment and struck several trees.

State police said the driver, identified as Corey Deangelo Davis, 36, was not wearing a seat belt.

He was taken to Centra Gretna Medical Center, where he later died.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
