HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — An early morning house fire destroyed a home Tuesday on Archer Road in Ridgeway.

The call came in around 4:45 a.m. on December 16.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the roof of the residence.

No injuries were reported as of the time of the incident.

Firefighting efforts were complicated by cold weather, with temperatures around 26 degrees.

Firefighters told rbs news now nearby hydrants were frozen or inoperable, forcing crews to drive nearly four miles to the Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Department to refill water.

The home was a total loss.

Volunteer fire departments from Horsepasture, Ridgeway and Fieldale responded to the scene, along with Henry County Public Safety.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
