REIDSVILLE, N.C. (rbs news now) — One person died and another was injured Saturday morning after a residential structure fire in Reidsville, according to fire officials.

Reidsville Fire units were dispatched shortly after 10 a.m. December 20 to a reported house fire at 109 Piedmont Street.

Upon arrival, crews said they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-story residence.

Reidsville Police advised firefighters that a person might still be inside the home.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the fire while a second crew entered the residence to conduct a search.

During that search, crews located a deceased individual inside the home.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Micah Allen Ferguson.

Officials said a second male victim suffered significant burn injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Rockingham County Arson Task Force responded to assist with the investigation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
