MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Martinsville police are investigating a stabbing that occurred during a disturbance early Sunday morning, according to Sergeant Jeremy Purvis with the Martinsville Police Department.

Officers responded around 7 a.m. to a reported disturbance at the Martinsville Lofts apartments involving two individuals.

“It was a disturbance between two males out here at 900 Rives Road,” Sergeant Purvis told rbs news now. “Somebody did wield a knife, and one male ended up with a small laceration to his cheek.”

Purvis said the injured individual was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Delonnie Clevan White was taken into custody and charged with malicious wounding.

White is being held at the Martinsville City Jail.

Purvis said the situation appeared to be isolated between the individuals involved.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Martinsville Police Department and Martinsville Fire & EMS responded to the scene.

Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
