BASSETT, Va. (rbs news now) — A woman was seriously injured Friday evening after a crash between a sedan and a logging truck on Fairystone Park Highway.

The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on December 26 near Enslow Drive in the Bassett area.

First responders arrived to find the female driver of the sedan injured and trapped inside her vehicle.

Crews worked to extricate her before she was flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment, according to Bassett Volunteer Fire Department Chief Junior Lynch.

Chief Lynch said the driver of the logging truck was not injured.

Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Henry County Public Safety responded to the scene.

Virginia State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
