On December 31, 2025, at approximately 5:35 PM, deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Henry County Public Safety responded to the C-Mart Bestway convenience store located at 1706 Dillons Fork Road after a 14-year-old juvenile arrived with a single gunshot wound.

Initial investigation determined that the shooting did not occur at the convenience store.

Investigators later determined the incident occurred approximately one and a half miles away at the 1700 block of The Great Road.

The juvenile victim was transported from the scene and airlifted to a trauma center for further medical treatment.

Currently, the victim’s condition is unknown.

Investigators with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office have conducted multiple interviews and processed the

scene and collected evidence. As a result of the investigation, two individuals are being charged in connection with this incident.

• Violation of Virginia Code Section: 18.2-53.1 – Use Firearm in the Commission of a Felony

Michael L. Ferguson 20 years of age: $5,000.00 Unsecured Bond

• Violation of Virginia Code Section: 18.2-56.1 – Reckless handling of firearm

• Violation of Virginia Code Section: 18.2-282 – Brandishing Firearm

“This is a deeply concerning incident involving a juvenile, and our investigators are working diligently to hold

those responsible accountable,” said Sheriff Wayne Davis. “We will not tolerate acts of violence in our

community, and we are committed to pursuing justice while ensuring the safety of our citizens.”

This investigation remains active and ongoing.

FIELDDALE, Va. (rbs news now) — A 14-year-old boy was shot on New Year’s Eve and sought help at a convenience store in Fieldale.

The call came in around 5:30 p.m. December 31 at C Mart #4, formerly known as Roberts Bestway, at the intersection of Dillons Fork Road and The Great Road.

“Just shortly ago, a 14-year-old male subject showed up here. He entered the store and asked the clerk to please summon medical help,” Sheriff Wayne Davis told rbs news now at the scene.

Deputies determined the teen had suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest.

“The shooting did not take place at Robert’s Bestway. The shooting actually took place in the 1700 block of The Great Road,” Sheriff Davis said, noting it is a short distance from the business.

According to Davis, investigators are in the early stages of the case and are interviewing multiple witnesses while preparing to execute a search warrant at a nearby residence.

Authorities believe they have identified a person of interest but are working to confirm details before releasing further information.

The sheriff said the teen drove himself to the store after being shot and was conscious and alert while speaking with investigators.

He was being prepared for air transport to a medical center for further treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
