FIELDALE, Va. (rbs news now) — A narcotics investigation in the Fieldale community led to four people being detained, three arrests and the seizure of drugs, firearms and multiple animals living in what authorities described as deplorable conditions.
The SWAT raid took place in the 300 block of Pine Street on Tuesday night.
“Over the past couple of months, we’ve received a lot of complaints about this residence right here behind me,” Sheriff Wayne Davis told rbs news now at the scene. “So, we began an investigation. Through the course of that investigation, we determined that the residents of this house were dealing in stolen property and in fact exchanging stolen property for narcotics.”
Sheriff Davis said deputies made multiple controlled buys of suspected meth, which led to a search warrant being executed.
When deputies entered the home, they detained three men and one woman.
“We have suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, as well as possession of firearms after being convicted of a felony here at this residence,” Davis said.
Davis said one of the men found inside the home was a convicted felon who was in possession of a rifle.

“There were several large dogs, but mostly of concern, there was a fair number of small mixed breed puppies here who were in poor health condition, living in absolutely deplorable, poor condition,” Davis said.
Deputy Skye Davis, with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Unit, was called to the scene to take custody of the animals.
She is not related to the sheriff.
“They’re inside of a large crate, and as you see, there’s feces on their paws. They’re most likely walking in it in there — they’re walking through their urine,” Skye Davis said. “They’ve got some fleas on them and mainly they’re out here running at large as well too. That’s pretty dangerous.”
The dogs were taken to the local shelter, where they will be evaluated and cared for.
Sheriff Davis said the owners will face additional charges related to the animals.
“Make no mistake about it, this team is diligent and dedicated to removing drug dealers in this community,” Davis said. “We are out here day in and day out seeking to do so.”
