HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A traffic stop by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction Unit led to the seizure of fentanyl and the arrests of two men, authorities said.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on Nicole Drive on Tuesday.

The driver was identified as 22-year-old Dylan Scott Plogger, who investigators determined had an outstanding drug-related capias out of Franklin County.

The passenger was identified as 35-year-old Teyan Davon Jones.

During the stop, K9 Zajo conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies then conducted a probable cause search and found two baggies containing a white powder-like substance.

The substance had a combined weight of 41.8 grams and later tested positive for fentanyl, authorities said.

Investigators also found packaging materials consistent with narcotics distribution among the passenger’s belongings.

Both men were taken into custody.

Plogger is being held without bond.

He is charged with possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance (fentanyl) and a felony probation violation out of Franklin County.

Jones is also being held without bond.

He is charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II controlled substance.

Following the arrests, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Nicole Drive, Martinsville.

Inside the home, deputies found additional suspected fentanyl, scales, packaging materials and pills inside a bedroom, the sheriff’s office said.

The vehicle involved in the stop, a 2005 Nissan Xterra, was seized.

Authorities noted that fentanyl is an extremely potent synthetic opioid and that as little as 2 milligrams can be fatal.

The amount seized in this case equals to about 21,000 potentially fatal doses, according to the sheriff’s office.
