
MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A Kroger employee was injured Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in the store’s parking lot, according to the Martinsville Police Department.
Police said the call came in Jan. 30 at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Commonwealth Boulevard.
Officers said they learned the employee was removing shopping carts from the storage area when he stepped backward into the path of a passing vehicle.
The rear tire struck his leg, causing an apparent injury.

The employee was transported by Martinsville Fire & EMS for treatment.
Authorities said the driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
No charges were filed, as police determined the pedestrian stepped into the side of the vehicle while it was moving through the parking lot.
The incident was handled as a private property crash.
